Don’t wait too long after doing your initial research to plan out your budget. Deciding how much you can afford to drop on your lighting scheme is good. After you figure that out, you should break it down according to room. This way you won’t accidentally spend all of your money in your bathroom while leaving no money for the other rooms. Some rooms require you to spend more money than others. A bathroom, for example probably won’t need the same lights that you will need in your bedroom or kitchen. What size of space do you want to light? A large room will need more light than a small room. A small 10X10 room probably only needs a lamp or two. A larger room will need more than one light source-especially if you want to make sure the whole room is visible. If your main concern is only a small area, you can use a focal light. If you want to make sure that the whole room is lit up you could choose to put in some overhead lights or really good floor lamps.
You can use natural light, as well. Does your home have plenty of well positioned windows? If your windows let in enough light to illuminate your home, utilize them and don’t waste money on unnecessary lighting options. When the sun is out, if you use your indoor lighting at all, it should just be to complement the natural light. You can get the same natural looking light from certain light bulbs designed to simulate sunlight. Check out Arizona-ultralights.com for more information.
